Who Doesn’t Love A Good Cliffhanger?

Every night, when I stop reading to my kids, it reminds of Arabian Nights where in order to save herself from execution, Scheherazade tells King Shahryār story after story that ends in a cliffhanger.
The relaxed rhythms of summer have given way to walking to the bus by the dawn’s early light and homework afternoons. Books and stories have become a part of daily life for my family. Any given evening, my three girls are reading books, drawing their own graphic novels, or listening to my wife Paula and I read to them. We try to read fun or inspiring stuff to keep their interest and shepherd their passions for a good book. Right now we’re reading Path to the Stars – A Memoir by Sylvia Acevedo, the CEO of Girls Scouts USA. It’s in preparation for her visit to Austin.
But what does that have to do with a Cliffhanger you ask? Well nothing specifically. Except that every night, when we stop reading, it reminds of Arabian Nights where in order to save herself from execution, Scheherazade tells King Shahryār story after story that ends in a cliffhanger.
I can’t end this post without a nod to a cliffhanger closer to home. Over the next couple of weeks, there will be a couple of hints about a big announcement. So stay tuned!
