We are so excited to announce that Nurture My Child has joined with HappiCampr to become HappiFamli. Not since the multi-tool has a set of things combined to add next-level value for parents.

Every Family. Every Child. Every Story. Every Step Of The Way.

The HappiFamli Brand Network is literally the only place in Central Texas where parents (that’s you) can find the entire continuum of child care, camps, classes, and area schools under one roof. HappiFamli is planning, finding, applying, and paying… all-in-one.

Each of the three sister brands, HappiYoungstr, HappiCampr, and HappiLearnr cover an age-specific segment of parenting with a set of tools designed to simplify the discovery process and deliver comprehensive, localized knowledge and experience.

So what does this mean for you?

  • It means you’ll get the same products and services Nurture My Child has been delivering since 2007, like child care consultations and nanny placements, and customized searches for child care, camps, classes, and area schools.
  • It means you’ll be able to attend free events like the Austin Summer Camp Fair and HelloNabr events and read through amazing, comprehensive e-guides on local birthday party venues, holiday camps, and schools.
  • It means you’ll get access to new technology solutions that save you time, like the parent planning calendar and Universal Application.

Welcome to the future. Come check it out.

Easter Eggs

We have a Friday movie night tradition in our house. Its origin is my own childhood. Growing up, Sunday nights meant popcorn, malts, and The Wonderful World of Disney. Recently, we watched Ready Player One for the fifth or twentieth time. I lose track.

It’s an amazing book (I couldn’t and didn’t put down) and a rock solid film adaptation. I’m pretty psyched for the sequel (novel & movie). If you haven’t read it or seen it, I’ll try not to deliberately give away too many spoilers.

Central to the plot of the story and movie is the Easter Egg. That theme shows up on many different levels. I love Easter Eggs. Which is why I take great joy in hearing my kids talk about or point out to their friends all the visual easter eggs I have shown them in the movie. I can die completely fulfilled knowing I have successfully created another generation of pop culture wonks.

One final note: We’re one week closer to an announcement and the game is afoot!

Who Doesn’t Love A Good Cliffhanger?

Every night, when I stop reading to my kids, it reminds of Arabian Nights where in order to save herself from execution, Scheherazade tells King Shahryār story after story that ends in a cliffhanger.

The relaxed rhythms of summer have given way to walking to the bus by the dawn’s early light and homework afternoons. Books and stories have become a part of daily life for my family.  Any given evening, my three girls are reading books, drawing their own graphic novels, or listening to my wife Paula and I read to them. We try to read fun or inspiring stuff to keep their interest and shepherd their passions for a good book. Right now we’re reading Path to the Stars – A Memoir by Sylvia Acevedo, the CEO of Girls Scouts USA. It’s in preparation for her visit to Austin.

But what does that have to do with a Cliffhanger you ask? Well nothing specifically. Except that every night, when we stop reading, it reminds of Arabian Nights where in order to save herself from execution, Scheherazade tells King Shahryār story after story that ends in a cliffhanger.

I can’t end this post without a nod to a cliffhanger closer to home. Over the next couple of weeks, there will be a couple of hints about a big announcement. So stay tuned!
